Working in partnership to deliver affordable homes throughout the south of England.

Raven Housing Trust is awarded £467,000 of European Union & Big Lottery Funding

Following a recent embargo on the announcement, Raven Housing Trust can now release that it has been awarded £467k of European Union & Big Lottery funding for a project called East Surrey Pathways to Employment. Raven are the lead in the partnership of local agencies who will deliver the project and will be working with YMCA East Surrey, ESRA, ESDAS, Surrey Chambers of Commerce and Reigate & Banstead Council to support people in temporary accommodation or at risk of losing their home to overcome the barriers which prevent them getting in to work.

UK charities and organisations typically receive more than £200m a year in total EU funding (2.5bn expected between 2000 and 2020) from regional development and the social fund. This EU funding may be the last in the UK’s pot as other groups, do not know whether they can still apply for EU funding, whilst the UK government are taking steps to negotiate Britain’s exit from the EU.

This announcement comes at a time when the focus of community investment is shifting towards getting people into work and employment support. Julie Jacobs from Raven Housing Trust has stepped into the new role of Employability and Skills Manager and will be the lead for employment support including delivery of the Pathways to Employment project.

Raven’s Head of Community Investment, Angela Eilis said:

"We are thrilled to have been awarded this funding at a time when, with benefit cuts, it is more essential than ever that people move into employment".

The 3 year project will officially start in October this year and Raven will be providing more information in the following weeks about how the partnerships will make this project a tremendous success.
