Carlyle Court celebrates big 3-0

Crowthorne retirement housing scheme, Carlyle Court, celebrated its 30th anniversary(July) in style with a party for residents and their families.

An Elvis Presley impersonator provided lively entertainment and residents and their guests joined in, singing along with the familiar classics. They enjoyed a celebration afternoon tea and a special cake followed by dancing and games.

The party also celebrated 25 years of residence for Netta Taylor, who is the scheme’s longest residing tenant.

Netta was presented with a lovely bouquet of flowers and said: “I have always lived in Crowthorne and was born in a house just around the corner from Carlyle Court in 1930. I have a lot of friends around the area and in the scheme, and love living in Carlyle Court, with its friendly community and I feel very happy and safe here.”

Linda Wells, Housing and Community Services Director at Bracknell Forest Homes who own and manage Carlyle Court, added: “Carlyle Court is a great example of our supported housing. Based in the local community, it provides good quality apartments and bungalows, for people in their retirement with a little extra help available from friendly staff if required.

“It is great to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the scheme and the good work of our staff with our valued residents and their guests.”

Carlyle Court, on Kings Road, first opened its doors in July 1987 - a when Rick Astley and Los Lobos had summer hit number ones, Margaret Thatcher was elected, and the film Wall Street was released. It has recently undergone a refurbishment and redecoration of the communal lounges. It’s one of 10 retirement schemes owned and managed by Bracknell Forest Homes.
