Crawley housing development provides new homes
Crawley Borough Council, in partnership with Raven Housing Trust and Croudace Homes, has provided local families in Crawley with more sustainable and affordable housing. Raven Housing Trust secured Cottonwood Close in Langley Green for its affordable housing scheme. Assisted by the council’s £1.5m capital contribution this helped to keep rent down to affordable levels.
The new development consisting of 22 houses and eight flats was completed this August by Croudace Homes and sits on the site that Langley Green Primary School previously occupied.
All properties have been rented out to families on the council’s housing register.
Earlier this year, there was more good news for the affordable housing project after it was awarded ‘Highly Commended Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development' by the South East Regional Authority Building Control (LABC), Building Excellence Awards.
Speaking about the development, Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Stephen Joyce, said: "Cottonwood Close is a fantastic development that provides secure and affordable housing for families in Crawley.
"I am incredibly pleased that we have been able to work with Raven Housing Trust and Croudace Homes on this development and look forward to continuing our partnerships on future projects."
Raven Housing Trust’s CEO, Jonathan Higgs, said: "At Raven we set out to build homes and change lives. After talking to some of our new residents here, with the council's help, we have been able to do both."
